“Religiosa” stars in a spot that announces the change of Atlético de Madrid’s shield

A “religious woman” is the protagonist of a new advertising spot for the Atlético de Madrid football club, with which the sports entity announces the change of its corporate identity at the request of fans.

To announce the implementation of the plan to recover the traditional shield, the club has broadcast an advertising spot that, according to the Spanish soccer team, is based on the true story of a religious fan of Atlético de Madrid, who would have sent to the club his fans and his desire to see the emblem of the 40s of the last century return.

In June 2023, Atlético de Madrid fans were able to demonstrate through a consultation organized by the club’s ownership about the controversial change in its corporate identity that broke with decades of tradition. The majority of those consulted advocated returning to the 1947 design.

In the two-minute production, the protagonist, an elderly nun, repeatedly looks at an Atlético de Madrid flag through a window with a spyglass. She is also portrayed how she prays every night with great devotion.
