This January 1, the World Day of Peace is celebrated under the title “Artificial Intelligence and Peace”, a topic chosen by Pope Francis to inform about the advantages and also the threats that this new technology presents.
In his message for this day, published last December 15Pope Francis highlighted that the exercise of control over reality, never seen until now, “is putting in the hands of man a vast range of possibilities, some of which represent a risk for human survival and a danger for common house.”
For this reason, the Holy Father warned that it is necessary to ask some urgent questions: “What will be the consequences, in the medium and long term, of the new digital technologies? And what impact will they have on the lives of individuals and society, on international stability and on peace?”
