“Without therapy I wouldn’t have been able to survive anything”

Grow suddenly. That happened to Cande Molfese in 2023, a pivotal year in his life, where he left his comfort zonecame off a success (with what that means), it went badly, but he still came back.

Cande is an actress, influencer and businesswoman. She became known for her role as Tini Stoessel’s friend, in Violetta. The Disney series was not only a success in Argentina, but for five years its cast toured the world, filling stadiums and driving millions of fans crazy.

Cande’s career continued successfully. Until last year. She was part of the team Nobody says anything, the Luzu TV program, led by Nico Occhiato, a boom in streaming entertainment. But the proposal came to him to create his own content channel. and was tempted.

He then created Loft Stream with her boyfriend, actor Gastón Sofritti, and they took to the field last March. But after six months they had to close it.

“There was a lot of expectation, but it didn’t work out,” he says. “She was very comfortable and happy in Luzu. But I was seduced by the possibility of creating my own channel. So I got off a hit and got out of my comfort zone. That has to do with the fact that I am an entrepreneur and I like to create.. Today, with Monday’s diary, I can make a mea culpa and assume that perhaps it was not the right moment. I thought it was the best option for me and my career. That setback made him go through a difficult and intense year. But I had to go through that and it was part of growing up,” he reflects in a bar in Palermo.

And in that growth, Cande keeps what he learned: “It was a challenge to put together work teams and networks. Production things he had never done: scheduling meetings and decision making. There were many fronts to address that she was not used to. But I appreciate that I was encouraged”.

And explains the reasons for the closure: “There was very little audience. It was a very large device to hold. So, no money was coming in. The best we could do was finish it and move on. Obviously now I tell you with everything more resolved, but at the time I was very distressed. I had never gone beyond having, in quotes, a failure for which I felt so responsible. So it was difficult. But Gastón was also involved in this and we accompanied each other a lot as a couple. This made us stronger. And we finished the project very well, with love, with empathy. And then new things came that helped heal.”

As a girl, Cande was dying to be an actress. But her mother didn’t let her go to castings or work until she came of age.: “At that moment that made me feel bad, but today I am grateful for it: I had a completely normal life. And I say this because I compare myself with my partner, who has been working since he was eight years old, and I see the differences.. “I went on a graduate trip, I have the same friends I have always had… Another context.”

Despite the wait to step onto a stage or a TV set, his focus on art never changed. “I never wanted to do anything else. Cris (Morena) had a lot to do with my career choice. “She watched all of her novels,” she points out.

Fate had a pleasant surprise in store for him. Already past 18 years old and with a precarious presentation folder – two photos taken by his sister Constanza, his lifelong manager, and a half-“invented” resume – he showed up at the casting of Violetta.

“I sent the material without much encouragement, as I did every day when I entered Alternativa Teatral on the Internet to see what casting I could apply for. They quoted me at Polka. There were several tests: they made me dance, act. And they were changing my look. Until I became Camila, Tini’s best friend. Incredible,” she reviews.

Memories link with unique moments, like those experienced on Violetta’s world tour: “We traveled everywhere. I think that what happened abroad was not reflected so much here, but we We were the best-selling tour after the Rolling Stones. We filled huge stadiums. I will never forget the Verona Arena. “It was like singing in the Coliseum!” she notes.

But all that success had a flip side: “Because all that madness, emotion, fame, adrenaline, becomes your reality. One loses dimension, after five years of filling stadiums and doing very crazy things. But what happens when it ends? Sadness, depression and anguish arrive. So it was. I had a bad time. I was very distressed and depressed. Sad. She felt like she was good for nothing. And I didn’t know what I was going to do with my life”.

Cande was assisted. There were people who played an important role at that moment and brought her out: “One of them was my therapist at the time, Viviana. Without therapy, I wouldn’t have been able to survive anything. My friends also helped, the usual ones, the ones from school. Misericordia, I have known them since I was 8 years old. And, of course, my sisters and my family,” she says.

All of this helped her activate: “My sister Constanza, who was already my manager, had been telling me to think about the future and suggested that I be Youtuber. And it was great for us. We reached 800,000 followers. Now I have it on pause, but that led me to become an influencer.”

“Andy (Kusnetzoff, host) had called me to work with him, but I was with the channel project and I said no. And well, when we finished the note for the series, I told the producer that the project had not worked and he told me: ‘I can’t believe you. You start next week.’ This was last August and for now I continue. I am very happy and very grateful. I have been using that radio for many years. They were very generous with me and opened the doors for me. The radio is a place of great learning too.”, he confesses.

The end of the talk arrives and Cande continues telling good news that appeared at the end of the year and that, in some way, repaired his setback. And they have to do with acting. “They confirmed to me that the second season of Barrabrava (the Amazon Prime series) and it makes me very excited. First because the group is wonderful, with Gastón Pauls, Matías Mayer and Liz Solari, Mónica Gonzaga, Gustavo Garzón, Violeta Narvay and Paloma Contreras, among others. I greatly admire the director (Jesús Braceras) and I feel very lucky to be part of this. It is the most important project of my career. Barrabrava It opened a new door for me, because I was very focused on childhood and youth, with a more childlike role. And in some way it turned me into an adult and enabled me to play other roles. At last! I am 32 years old. Many believe that I am smaller,” she reveals.

And also, he smiles because he finished filming Twinneds. “It is a beautiful love story, which also talks about inclusion. Diego Morel and Sebastián Suárez direct. We starred in it with Diego Domínguez, who was my partner in Violetta. We meet again”, señala.

Regarding his desires, he says: “Before it was more about having dreams. Nowadays I just think that I want to find little things that make me happy. It’s not that I want something very big, I think about enjoying myself, spending a lot of time with my partner, with my friends. I want to travel. Taking care of my dog, Almendra, who I call ‘daughter’. She saved my life during the pandemic when I was very sad about the situation and about a romantic separation. I want to continue with my specialty coffee business, Borja by Cande Molfese, in Palermo, which is going very well for us. So from an uncomfortable year I rescue everything I learned and “I am open to whatever comes, happy, and with open arms.”
