Why is it good to go to Mass and take communion every day?

A text by the French Jesuit priest Bertrand de Margerie explains the benefits of attending Holy Mass daily and taking communion, and not doing it only on Sundays.

Father Bertrand de Margerie, born in 1923 and died in 2003 in Paris (France), has written several texts on Catholic Theology, inspired by the works of Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas Aquinas. Many of his works have been collected by the Catholic Encyclopedia.

How often should we resort to the Eucharist?

The French priest points out in his text Need for daily Communion that “Christians have always wondered about the rhythm of their Eucharistic practice.”

“This rhythm has varied, depending on the times or the countries,” he indicates. However, currently “the Catholic Church explicitly recommends daily communion to its faithful.”

Why is there talk of “daily bread” in the Lord’s Prayer?

In statements to ACI Prensa, the director of the Catholic Encyclopedia, José Gálvez Kruger, lamented that “many people fail to understand the scope of what is asked for in the Lord’s Prayer” when it speaks of “daily bread” or “ daily bread.”

“The request for ‘daily bread’ must be understood as the satisfaction of the need to eat bodily food, and simultaneously as the need for spiritual food,” he stressed.
