The church of San Pedro has the appearance of a fortress and on its buttresses you can see gargoyles carved in granite, which represent fantastic animals, all different.
Inside, the nave stands out with a 20-meter-high ribbed vault, but since the summer of 2017, it cannot be enjoyed, after being closed due to its condition.
“The inhabitants of Almendral in the 16th century surely, with many efforts, managed to create this temple, and now it is our turn to preserve it,” the residents express in a statement sent by Hispania Nostra. “It is a tribute to our past and a legacy for future generations,” they add.
