María Antonia died on March 7, 1799, and as indicated in her will, which is still preserved in writing, she was buried “in the holy field of La Piedad,” with “a simple, poor burial,” said Father Raúl Laurencena, parish priest of La Piedad, in Telam. For this reason, when the Basilica was built, it was difficult to find his remains although they were finally found.
His tomb was declared a National Historic Sepulcher in 2014, and can be visited at Bartolomé Miter 1523, in the city of Buenos Aires.
What miracles did Mama Antula perform?
Mama Antula was beatified by Cardinal Angelo Amato, papal envoy for the occasion, on August 27, 2016, in Santiago del Estero. The miracle that made her beatification possible was the healing of a nun of the Daughters of the Divine Savior named Vanina Rosa, who recovered her health in 1905.
