Once again, TripAdvisor, the world’s largest traveler targeting platform, published the new list with the best beaches in the world 2024.
The selection is based on a analysis of comments and reviews that travelers leave on the platform every year. The objective of searching for the best rated ones based on recent visits.
For the selection, comments on different aspects of a destination are valid, from the landscapes and cleanliness to what the water is like for practicing water sports.
“It’s hard to keep calm when it comes to beaches, where my all-time favorite memories have been made. And I’m not alone: Last year, Tripadvisor received millions of beach reviews; it’s clear our community loves them,” she said. Sarah Firshein, editorial chief of the platform, in the statement reflecting the results.
“As our Travelers’ Choice lists reveal, there is no one-size-fits-all beach day – our top 25 winners alone span 18 countries on five continents. The top three beaches are all in Europe, displacing the ever-popular ones in the Caribbean, a sign that some travelers are eager to swap the typical resort vacation for the coasts of Portugal, Italy and beyond.”
Let’s see then the chosen sites.
The 10 best beaches in the world in 2024
1. Falésia Beach (Olhos de Agua, Portugal). It extends 8 kilometers between Olhos de Água – where the cliffs are highest – and Vilamoura.
Travelers highlight the panoramic walks and recommend visiting in spring because of the more affordable prices and because it is less crowded.
Landscape-wise, its orange-hued cliffs and golden sand draw attention.
2. Spiaggia dei Conigli (Lampedusa, Italy). This beach has remained in the ranking of the most beautiful for several years now.
Both the beach and the Rabbit Islet are part of the island of Lampedusa, off Sicily.
As it is a protected area, part of the Lampedusa Oriented Nature Reserve, activities such as sailing and diving cannot be practiced. Yes, it is possible to take a dip, as long as you access it from land: keep in mind that the hours are limited as well as the number of people who can access it. For the 2024 summer season, the reservations can be made here.
The explanation of the name is not clear: there are those who speak of a colony of rabbits, but others assure that, in reality, it is due to a misinterpretation of an Arabic word that refers to a bond or union: at low tide, the islet remains joined to the beach by a kind of isthmus.

One of the highlights here is the presence of the Careta Careta turtle, which lays its eggs in this area in spring.
TripAdvisor travelers point out that in spring there are good prices for accommodation.
In summer, although there are more people, there are also more direct flights – that is, easier access for certain markets – to reach Lampedusa from large cities in Europe, in addition to the ferry from Sicily.
3. La Concha (San Sebastián, Spain). Famous beach in northern Spain, in front of the island of Santa Clara and with a large promenade: it is the icon, the classic postcard that represents San Sebastián (Donostia).
Spectacular views, shallow waters, 1,300 meters long, golden sands and many services for visitors, from showers and cloakrooms to slides and trampolines during the summer.
On the official website of San Sebastián they explain the story: “Elizabeth II of Spain made La Concha beach fashionable in 1845, after her doctors recommended sea baths for her skin problems. After her, and with the new fashion of going to the beach, the rest of the court and the aristocracy of high society arrived, giving rise to elegant and distinguished San Sebastián.
And they add: “Then everything else came: the nickname of the Pearl of the Cantabrian Sea, tourists and recognition as one of the most beautiful urban beaches in the world.”
4. Ka’anapali (Lahaina, Hawaii, United States). It is 3 miles long and is in Maui.
It is characterized by the possibility of observing wildlife and practicing water sports. In the Black Rock area you can snorkel among colorful fish and sea turtles.
Winter is the ideal time to watch whales in this area.
“Beautiful beach on the West Side of Maui, has parking, be careful with the waves that break very close to the shore, I recommend walking to Black Rock and jumping from the top. Before you leave, stop by Leilani’s (cafe) and have a Hula Pie (made with macadamia nut ice cream on a chocolate cookie base),” recommends one traveler in his comment.
5. Grace Bay Beach (Turks and Caicos Islands). It is synonymous with postcards dominated by soft white sand.
Located in the northeast of Providenciales Island, there is a large coral reef barrier 1.6 km away that protects this beach from the strongest waves in the Atlantic.
This is why the water is calm for bathers.
It is named after Grace Jane Hutchings, wife of Hugh Houston Hutchings, commissioner of the Turks and Caicos Islands from 1933 to 1934.
One fact: on the official website they explain that although it is often read on different Internet sites that Grace Bay is 19 km long, in reality it is only almost 5 km.
6. Anse Lazio (Praslin Island, Seychelles). With clear sand, crystal clear water and surrounded by large granite rocks, this beach is located in the northwest of the island of Prasilin, in the Indian Ocean.
In their comments, travelers highlight the possibilities for swimming, sunbathing and taking good photos.
The best time for climate and little wind is between April and May or October to November.
“Attracted by the references we had, we approached the northwest of the island to see this incredible beach with very high expectations. And, indeed, it did not disappoint us at all,” begins the comment of one of the travelers on Tripadvisor.
And he continues: “Anse Lazio is a small paradise of clear sands and wild nature with crystal-clear waters in which it is a real pleasure to take a bath and forget about what is happening in the rest of the world. It is surrounded by dense vegetation and huge rocks of granite that give it a magical appearance, while its calm turquoise waters, suitable for a calm swim, offer an ideal setting for snorkeling and taking incredible photos.
7. Manly (Sidney, Australia). The most pleasant temperatures occur between March and May or September and November, months when there are not many people.
In January, the height of the high season, there are a lot of people, but the scene is very attractive.
On Sydney’s official site they describe it like this: “Manly is one of those places that offers the best of both worlds, a cosmopolitan atmosphere and a relaxed atmosphere.”
It can be reached by ferry from the CBD – the journey is short and scenic – “and has a vibrant coastal atmosphere, with its pine-lined Norfolk Island promenade, sprawling three-kilometre beach and fantastic waterfront restaurants” .
8. Eagle Beach (Aruba). Happy Island has a great advantage over other places in the Caribbean: due to its location, hurricanes do not reach here. Therefore, all year round is a good time to visit this destination and, particularly, its most famous beach.
And the classic postcard, which identifies this beach, is a divi divi tree in the sand, tilted to one side by the gentle winds of the island.
9. Siesta Beach (Florida, United States). A destination that attracts both those seeking relaxation and those who prefer to spend a day full of activities.
White sand, clear water, outdoor sports and the spectacular sunset: each traveler decides how to experience this place.
Travelers highlight in their comments that the beach is easy to get to by public transportation, offers wheelchair access, and has plenty of parking, bathrooms, and a small food stand.
There is also a wide variety of shops and lively restaurants in the surrounding area.
10. Varadero (Cuba). One of the reasons for including it on the list of the best beaches is that it is a destination that brings together everything one would expect from a perfect beach: golden sand, turquoise blue water and stunning sunsets.
The sea is ideal for swimming, diving or kayaking.
