“In order to improve service to visa applicants, the Applicant Service Center (CAS) in Buenos Aires moved to a more convenient location in the same city on December 11, 2023.”
With this phrase, the United States Embassy in Argentina officially announced the news of the transfer of these offices.
What is CAS? It is the indicated place to carry out the procedures where travelers who intend to request and/or renew their Visa to travel to the United States must go.
Although in most cases a Visa for business or tourism (B1/B2), each person must first check the type of visa they need. And that information is found in: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/all-visa-categories.html.
Travelers must complete Form DS-160 online at https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC.
Once the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application is completed, you must print confirmation sheet DS-160 (bar code) for each of the applicants. The application can be completed at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv.
In turn, on the Visa Information Service site https://ais.usvisa-info.com/es-ar/niv Each one can register by creating a user (with an email and password), and then choose the visa category to process, enter the information and the DS-160 confirmation number for each visa applicant, select the branch or location – to receive the documents from the Consular Section, pay the visa fee and schedule appointments.
Is important to have the valid passport (and previous ones if you have them) and the DS-160 confirmation sheet barcode for each applicant.
The new CAS
For the renovation, the appointment is at the Applicant Service Center (CAS), which was previously located on Av. Santa Fe 4569, a few meters from Puente Pacífico. But from December 11, 2023 it works in Córdoba 5160 between Thames and Uriarte.
From the Embassy it was reported: “If your appointment for delivery of documents, taking of biometric data or return of documents is scheduled for after December 10, 2023, you must attend the new location.”
If it is the first time If someone applies for a visa, in addition to going to the CAS, they will have to make an appointment at the United States Embassy (Av. Colombia 4300).
How much does it cost
Visitor visas for Tourism, Business and Medical Treatment (B) cost 185 dollars.
You also have to pay $185 for visas for transit in the US (C), crew member (D), academic student (F), non-academic/technical student (M), media or journalists (I) and visitor exchange (J), among others.
On the other hand, the price is $205 for worker/temporary employment or intern visas (H), international cultural exchange visitor (Q), transferred employee within your company (L), among other cases.
