Renault raised the summer temperature and presented at its Cariló stand one of the great novelties it will have this year: the Arcanathe first hybrid model that will be sold in the country.
The Renault Arkana is a Midsize SUV with coupe styling which will be added to the electrified range of the French brand, made up of the electric Kwid E-Tech, Megane E-Tech and Kangoo E-Tech. Its commercial launch is scheduled for March.
Although the brand did not detail what price it will have or what models it will compete with, in terms of style and size its direct rival would be the Fiat Fastback, which this year will add a hybrid version.
The Arkana E-Tech Hybrid will arrive imported from South Korea, and will initially be available in a single version (Esprit Alpine). The interesting thing is that those who stop by the Cariló stand will be able to see it in person and also schedule a test drive.
Renault is one of the many brands that will spend the summer on the Atlantic Coast exhibiting new products and offering different activities for the public.
What is Arkana like?
With more than 300,000 units sold worldwide, the Renault Arkana E-Tech Hybrid measures 4.57 meters long, almost 2 m. wide, 1.52 meters high and has a trunk capacity of 513 liters.
It will reach the local market with technology mild hybridization or Mild-hybrid. This formula is composed of with a motor 1.3 turbo 140 hp, associated with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
9″ floating multimedia screen and digital instrument panel. The set is completed with a starter-generator (BSG) system and an additional 12-volt lithium-ion battery that assists the thermal engine. This allows for more efficient torque delivery in the initial stages of acceleration.
Furthermore, when the vehicle is in deceleration phases between 30 and 140 km/h, the system is responsible for maintain the movement, speed and inertia of the vehicle delivering 8 HP of powerin addition to supplying energy for the vehicle’s electrical systems such as air conditioning, multimedia screen, lights, among others.
On the design side, its fastback-type bodywork (marked drop of the tail) is striking, giving it a sporty appearance. This is a silhouette style that began in the premium segment and can already be seen in more popular models such as the Fiat Fastback and Citroën Basalt.
Other details include the dark grille (made up of many rhombuses) with the brand’s new logo, headlights with full LED technology, 18-inch wheels and a two-tone body configuration.
Eco-leather and Alcantara upholsteryThe interior has a digitalized concept, composed of two screens: one 10.2″ for the instrument panel and another 9″ vertical touch screen for the multimedia system (with wireless pairing of mobile devices).
This Esprit Alpine variant also has an electric sunroof, wireless cell phone charger, automatic climate control with air outlet in the rear seats, electric and heated front seats, configurable interior lighting, and a Bose audio system with nine speakers, among others.
In terms of technology and security, it offers six airbags and different driving assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go and speed limiter, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind spot, forward collision, cross traffic (for reversing situation) and involuntary lane change alerts ( with active assistance), automatic low and high beam system and driver fatigue sensor, among others.
