After a start to the year with numbers in the red, the car market seems to be starts to give positive signs. This was shown by the registrations of 0 km cars in April and is now also reflected by the transfers of used models for the same period.

During last month, 136,230 used vehicles were sold in Argentina, reflecting an increase of 4.6% compared to April 2023, in which 130,167 units had been registered.

On the other hand, if we compare it with last March (105,969 vehicles transferred), growth reaches 28.5%As reported by the Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA). In this way, it becomes the first month with positive numbers since December 2023.

In the first four months of the year, 464,562 unitswhich still shows a drop of 10.9% compared to the same period in 2023 (521,650 units).

The report published by the CCA also indicates that during the first four months, the provinces that suffered the greatest decline were Formosa (-30.5%), La Rioja (-26.4%) and Jujuy (-25%). Those that fell the least were Entre Ríos (-6.9%) and Mendoza (-5.9%).

From the chamber they highlight that “the sales numbers for the month of April have shown a recovery in activity compared to the same month last year and a significant recovery compared to March of this same year,” according to the secretary of the entity. Alejandro Lamas.

Among the reasons for this improvement, “surely the most important factor, along with the obvious drop in the inflation rate, has to do with a downward price adjustment that indicate a new market reality,” said the manager.

Lamas also highlighted, among other reasons, “a significant reduction in rates to be able to finance sales; “They are surely factors, not unique, but very important to begin to generate a recovery in activity.”

The manager was enthusiastic about last month’s results and announced that “we hope that the May numbers reflect this incipient recovery that would lead us to moderate optimism thinking about the second half of the year.”
