The automotive market closed the year positively after suffering one of the worst starts in the last two decades. The recovery from the second semester onwards was notable and the sector is already anticipating a 2025 of around 500,000 units.
The flexibility of imports, economic stability, the reduction in prices thanks to the modifications of the PAIS tax and the promotions and financing offers from automotive companies were the great incentives for the 0 km car market to close about 100,000 units above what the sector predicted at the beginning of 2024.
The Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA) reported that in December they patented 21,602 unitswhich represents an increase of 16.3% year-on-year, since in 2023 18,573 patents had been registered.
However, if a comparison is made with respect to last month, a down 40.3% since in November 36,212 units had been registered.
In this way, the year ended with a total of 414,041 units7.9% less than in 2023, in which 449,492 vehicles had been registered.
“This month’s figures were very good and the 21,600 patents confirm the best December in the last 6 years, surely with the carryover of several patents that for various reasons could not be registered in November. We thus complete a complex year, with a first very weak semester, in which the ghosts of the worst years were stirring, but which had a second half with levels of activity that invite us to get excited about a recovery with growth by 2025,” he highlighted. Sebastián Beato, president of ACARA.
