What is the largest online search engine in South America like?

He glamping It has been setting a trend for several years now and there are more and more options in Argentina and also in countries in the region.

Its name derives from glamorous camping and combine the camping experience outdoors with comforts and luxury of a hotel. You are “like in a tent”, but you sleep in a bed and, in general, they have a private bathroom.

“It was a type of travel that was growing all over the world and, on our continent, there was no platform that brought together all the glamping information,” explains Gustavo de Figueredo, one of the founding partners of Glamping South, which he defines as “the largest glamping search engine in South America.”

Glamping: the growth of the phenomenon

That glamping is a trend-setter is obvious just by looking at the history of this platform: it started eight years ago and there were only 15 establishments in Argentina and around 50 in the rest of the countries in the region.

It currently has more than 400 registered glamping sites in more than 10 countries. and it continues to grow: Colombia is the one with the most glamping sites with 196, in second place is Argentina with 93 and Chile follows with 65 glamping sites.

Furthermore, in recent times, 20 new establishments have been added each year.

And according to the latest measurements on the website, in one year more than 199,000 people entered as unique users.

Regarding the origin, Gustavo de Figueredo says that there is no certain milestone.

“In terms of tourism, the term glamping began to grow – along with the more modern modality – with the first trips to Africa and the Middle East. Since there was no accommodation in the destinations they went to, they began to take tents with all the services, luxury stores,” he explains.

Many consider spending a night in glamping as an experience, although this is also changing, depending on the destination and the proposal of each place.

“There are very particular destinations that work for one or two nights because (the proposal) is to visit a very specific natural resource. But many glamping sites in the region are already being used as accommodation,” says de Figueredo.

And he explains that this depends mainly on the amount of resources there are at the destination.

“We have stays of three nights, five nights, one week, using glamping as an alternative to traditional accommodation. Stays in most glamping sites are being extended,” he adds.

How the glamping search engine works

As with hotel or rental property searchers, anyone looking for a glamping option for an upcoming trip can go to www.glampingsouth.com and navigate between the different options depending on the chosen destination.

Each glamping has a file with photos, detailing the services offered, activities, location and a contact information to consult and make reservations.

According to Gustavo de Figueredo, the pandemic influenced the growth of this modality since people began to look for less crowded options and with greater contact with nature.

In addition to being a kind of “catalog of all the glamping sites on the continent”, Glamping South seeks to bring together experiences related to the natural world and disconnection.

In the Glamping Experiences section, the user will find tourist packages with various experiences with “complete” proposals with transfers, glamping accommodation and excursions.

How much does it cost to spend the night in glamping?

“Los pricesas in any accommodation, depend on the location, services offered and category“says De Figueredo.

And he details: in a glamping site in Córdoba, Mendoza, Buenos Aires, some in the south, the average price ranges from 100,000 pesos for two people to 300,000.

How much more exclusive the place or more personalized servicesthe higher the rate. There are some that cost between $500 and $1,400 a night for two people.
