Citroën revealed the figure of the Basalt, a compact SUV with a coupe style that will begin manufacturing in Brazil this year to join the Argentine market at the end of the year.
He Citroën Basalt Vision It is the prototype of the third model of what the French brand calls the C-Cubo project. The first had been the new C3, presented in 2022, and the second is the C3 Aircross, which can now be purchased in Argentina through a savings plan.
The Basalt, which will use the same platform as the C3 and C3 Aircross, will compete against the Volkswagen Nivus and the Fiat Fastbackwhose commercial launch in Argentina has been postponed since 2023 (it should be launched this year).
The first images show a vehicle that stands out for its ground clearance, raised hood, flared fenders with black moldings and a long tailgate drop (fastback style). The trunk, for its part, has all the features present in other models.
In this first sample the design of the cabin was not revealed, although no major changes are expected with respect to the other models of the C-Cubo project.
Technical data was not anticipated either, but it is very likely that it will incorporate one of the turbo engines used by the Stellantis Group, such as the 1.0 of 120 horses and 200 Nm of torque (T200) that equips the C3 Aircross or the 1.3 of 174 horses and 270 Nm of torque (T270), from the Fiat Toro and Jeep Renegade, among others.
