Two weeks after being presented in Brazil, where it is manufactured, Toyota has just launched the updated one in our market. Corolla Crossone of the best-selling SUVs in the region and one of the favorites of buyers in Argentina.
Manufactured in the Brazilian Sorocaba plant, in São Paulo, from where they already came more than 230,000 unitsthe model presents its first major restyling, also adding more equipment and comfort elements.
The new 2025 line is now available in Argentine dealers in four gasoline versions (XLI, XEI, SEG y GR-Sport) y two hybrids (XEI Hybrid and SEG Hybrid).
The Corolla Cross is one of the public’s favorite SUVs. During the past month led the ranking in its category with 1,398 patents. And so far this year it is on the third step of the podium, behind Chevrolet Tracker and Volkswagen Taos.
Now, with this update, the Toyota model will seek to enhance that position thanks to the new import scenario presented by Argentina and promoting hybrid versions: 47% of the electrified vehicles sold in 2023 in Argentina correspond to Corolla Cross units.
Changes in sight
Aesthetically, the new Corolla Cross debuts a new integrated grille, bumpers and headlights that combine high and low beams in a single lens, as well as LED daytime running lights and three-dimensional sequential turn signals.
The 18” alloy wheels with a new design for the configurations also stand out. SAY y SEG Hybridand the redesign of the rear lights.
In the cabin, for its part, the most notable change falls on the new 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, present in all versions from XRE. There are also changes to the fabric coverings on the roof, as well as to the seat upholstery and door panels.
In addition, depending on the version, it adds an electronic parking brake, wireless charger for cell phones and an electric hands-free trunk opening and closing system.
In terms of safety, the entire range has the “Toyota Safety Sense” package of driving assistance systems, composed of pre-collision assistant, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance system with steering and automatic high beams.
And from the versions XEICorolla Cross will be equipped with blind spot alert, rear traffic alert and brake assist system.
Known mechanics
under the hood there were no changes. The standard versions continue with the 2.0-liter engine, which delivers 170 horsepower and is combined with a CVT (continuously variable ratio) automatic gearbox.
In turn, the hybrid variants have the 1.8-liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine (98 HP) that is combined with two 72 HP electric motors. It also has a CVT automatic transmission and in all cases the versions are single-wheel drive.
The new Corolla Cross is backed by the official warranty of 5 years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first. The hybrid versions, for their part, have a warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km on the system components: hybrid battery, inverter-converter and electronic control unit.
