What are the new plug-in hybrids from the Toyota luxury brand like?

The local market continues to increase its electrified offer. Lexus, Toyota’s luxury brand has just launched SUVs RX 450h+ Luxury and the NX 450h+los first plug-in hybrid models that sells in our country.

Both models join a vast electrified range made up of four sedans (LS 500h Sport, LS 500h Executive, IE 300h Luxury and ES 300h Luxury) and three other SUVs (UX 250h, NX 350h Luxury and RX 500h F Sport); all with hybrid technology.

The two SUVs, which are imported from Japan, share the same mechanical assembly and can travel up to 65 kilometers in fully electric mode. While the Declared combined range is up to 900 km with only one fuel tank.

Both models come equipped with a 2.2 kW (10A 220V) conventional portable charger that allows full charging from a conventional outlet in eight hoursy with another 7kW wallbox, with installation by a technician, which reduces the full charge time to two hours.

Lexus is recognized for having been the first luxury brand in the country to offer electrified vehicles, launching the NX300h and GS 450h Sport models, among others, six years ago.

This medium SUV has a 2.5-liter, 184 HP Atkinson cycle thermal engine, and two other electric motors located on each axle. The front engine delivers 182 HP and 270 Nm of torque, while the rear engine delivers 46 HP and 121 Nm of torque.

The entire set delivers a maximum combined power of 308 CV y 227 Nm and is associated with an e-CVT automatic transmission. The traction system is integral.

The NX 450h+ measures 4,660 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,670 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. It has 20” wheels shod with 235/50 R20 tires.

In terms of equipment, the 14-inch touch screen that includes the Mark Levinson surround sound system, customizable ambient lighting with 14 colors, an innovative electronic door opening system that replaces the traditional handle with a more intuitive button, stands out. and leather seats with electric adjustment, heating and ventilation.

For its part, in security it has the assistance package “Lexus Safety System”, composed of autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping system and automatic high beams en route; in addition to seven airbags (front and front side, front and rear curtain, and knee for the driver) and the semi-autonomous parking system.

The Lexus NX 450h+ has a value of $156,550.

Although it shares the same mechanical assembly, this model differs by being bigger. It measures 4,890 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 1,695 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. In addition, it has 21-inch wheels.

It is equipped with LED headlights with three projectors, which also incorporate the adaptive lighting system –AHS, Adaptive High-Beam System–. Below are the daytime running lights, which offer a more powerful three-dimensional image and more pronounced silhouettes. While the front fog lights and turn signals are independent units, housed in the lower part of the front bumper.

Like the NX450h, it has the Mark Levinson audio system and a 14-inch HD screen with Android Auto and Apple Car Play connection. In addition, three-zone digital climate control, heated front and rear seats, digital rearview mirror and electronic door opening system.

For its part, the safety configuration is identical to that of the Lexus NX, highlighting the driving assistance systems and the seven airbags. This model is priced at $200,500.
