The second half of the year has started and brands continue to renew their range of models, despite the decline in 0 km sales. In the first half of the year, 182,399 units were patented in Argentina, which represents 22.6% less than in 2023.
The opening of imports allowed automotive companies to begin to normalize the availability of units and take advantage of some models that had been relegated.
In total, in the first semester there were more than 20 releases, highlighting among others the electric Renault Megane and Kangoo; Ford eTransit, also electric; Ram Rampage, the brand’s first compact pickup; Citroën C3 Aircross, the seven-seat compact SUV; Fiat Fastback, the coupe-style SUV; and Toyota Corolla Cross, the renewal of the country’s best-selling SUV.
This second semester continues along the same lines and will even add two industrial launches: the new generation of the Peugeot 2008, now manufactured at the Palomar plant, and the profound renovation of the Volkswagen Amarok.
The offer is varied: economical cars, trucks and SUVs, to which are added electrified options.
Brand-by-brand news
Alfa Romeo
The Italian brand imported by Centro Milano will have at Tonal as protagonist. The compact SUV will compete with the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
However, it will be the only one in its segment to offer mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The release date was not revealed.
BMW
After the recent launches of the new M3 and X5the German automaker will present the new generation of the compact in August X2 which, as a particularity, will arrive next to the iX2the first 100% electric version that the brand will sell in the country.
Furthermore, in the coming days the renovations of the imposing X6 y X7 (both return to the country after a while). While the new connectivity platform will be launched soon “Connected Drive“, which will allow you to execute different actions from your cell phone, such as turning on the lights and air conditioning, locating the vehicle and, in some cases, even moving it.
Chevrolet
Although there is still no release date, the brand assures at least the arrival of three models. On the one hand, the renewal of the pickup S10 and the SUV Trailblazerwhich now have a new 207 horsepower 2.8 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the expected arrival of the Silveradothe full-size pickup that was already exhibited in the summer in Cariló and that will arrive to compete with the Ford F-150 and Ram 2500.
It is worth remembering that last month the Tracker RS, the sporty look version of the SUV that is manufactured at the Alvear plant, province of Santa Fe.
DS
The premium brand of the Stellantis group plans to launch the mid-year DS7 e-Tensethe plug-in hybrid version of the renewed medium SUV presented in the country in April 2023.
Fiat
The Italian brand was one of the most active during the first half, launching Pulse Abarth, Fastback and Strada Ultra, the turbo engine version of its small pickup truck.
The news is that during July they will repatriate the Mobi, the brand’s smallest model that had been discontinued due to strong import obstacles. It will be positioned below the Cronos, as the most economical option.
Ford
After the recent presentation of the new Bronco, its wildest 4×4, the most important news for the remainder of the year is the arrival of the seventh generation of the Mustang, the most famous and successful Pony Car in the world.
The Mustang will arrive in its GT Performance version, which comes with the classic 488 HP 5.0 V8 engine; 10-speed gearbox and an interior that is digitalized without losing the idea that the Mustang always conveyed.
We will also have to pay attention to the renewals of the F-150 y Maverickits full-size and compact pickup respectively.
Honda
It has several new features in store for the coming months. The most immediate (August) is the 4×4 version of the new CR-V, launched in January.
While starting in September it will launch its hybrid offensive using three models: the new generation of Civic; the mysterious “pixelation”, about which the brand has not provided any information; and a third vehicle, also hybrid, that will arrive by the end of the year.
Hyundai
You plan to import the renewal of the Kona, the compact SUV that will have gasoline variants (4×2 and 4×4) and a hybrid. And the arrival of the updated ones is also expected Tucson y Santa Fetwo SUVs that will also have hybrid variants.
Jeep
At the end of May it launched the Compass renewal, which comes from Brazil in five versions equipped with the efficient 175 HP 1.3 turbo engine. It is expected that this range update will also soon impact Renegade y Commander.
Peugeot
In August the new generation of 2008the compact SUV that is now manufactured in Argentina (its predecessor came from Brazil) and could be equipped with some of the Stellantis group’s turbo engines.
This model shares the CMP platform with the 208, also manufactured in Palomar, whose update will also be released in the coming weeks. It will have the same design as its European counterpart and the introduction of turbo engines is expected.
Renault
The next release will be Kardianthe new compact SUV that will be located between Stepway and Duster.
It will be equipped with a new three-cylinder, 1.0 turbo gasoline engine with 125 horsepower and 220 Nm, which will be associated with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and paddle shifters.
It will have six airbags as standard (two front, two side and curtain) and driving assistance systems, depending on the version.
Toyota
The Japanese brand has just launched the Crown, a “crossover sedan” that comes with a powerful hybrid system composed of a turbo gasoline engine, an electric motor on the front axle and another on the rear axle.
It has all-wheel drive, a six-speed automatic transmission (with torque converter) and superlative equipment in which the driving assistance systems stand out.
Volkswagen
After the recent launch of the new T-Cross, the German brand will present the renewed Amarokthe successful midsize pickup that has been manufactured since 2009 in Argentina.
Although it will have a new design and much more technology, it should not be confused with the Amarok II, the second generation that has been sold in Europe and other markets since mid-2022.
