This Sunday, Argentine Antonio Caselli found himself in the middle of a controversy after a protest by fans of Burgos, the club he managed until 2021.
It all started when the fans of the Spanish promotion club demonstrated in the middle of a Copa del Rey match against Mallorca, throwing a shower of fake bills and Argentine pesos. Why did they do it? In protest against the recent sale of the club to another Argentine businessman: Marcelo Fígoli, the historic owner of Fenix Entertainment Group.

The fans of Burgos, acquired by Marcelo Fígoli, threw bills with the face of the new owner onto the playing field and forced the game against Mallorca to be temporarily suspended.
According to some Spanish newspapers, including Diario de Burgos, in mid-2021 the River fan businessman left the club with a significant debt that would be around six million euros.
However, Caselli’s own version is another: “When I bought Burgos it was worth zero. When I left it, promoted, 71 percent of the club was worth 17.7 million euros.”
“I had a good relationship with the media in Burgos, I got along badly with those who stopped having privileges when I arrived,” he says.
According to Caselli, of the almost six million mentioned there were two million one hundred thousand euros that corresponded to the prize of the players who had achieved promotion.
Besides, to offset the debt of six million that is attributed to himthe son of the former Argentine ambassador to the Vatican during Menemism, assures that he left assets receivable and that the account is positive: “When I left I left fifteen million seven hundred thousand euros on account receivable and accounts payable for 5.6 million euros. The difference gave a surplus of more than 10 million.”
