We have lived a party: they celebrate 376 years of the only Eucharistic miracle in Peru

With a mass held in the Cathedral of Lima (Peru) and chaired by Cardinal Carlos Castillo, the 376 years of the Eucharista miracle of 1649 was remembered, the only prodigy of this type in Peru, promoted by Pope Leo XIV when he was a bishop of Chiclayo.

The Eucharist was concelebrated by Cardinal Pedro Barreto and by Mons. Jordi Bertomeu, Canonist and Apostolic Commissioner in charge of the dissolution process of the Sodalician Christian life. The Mass occurred only one day after Cardinal Castillo delivered to the diocese of Chiclayo the voting folder of the conclave that chose Pope León.

The group coordinator, Jesús León, shared with Ewtn news her emotion for this anniversary: “We have lived a party here in Lima, with the presence of many faithful, of many Catholics who remember this miracle that occurred 376 years ago in Eten, a town that at that time was run by Franciscan parents.”

On June 2, 1649, the eve of Corpus Christi, the faithful saw the divine Niño Jesus in a consecrated host. Then, on July 22 at the feast of Santa María Magdalena, four Franciscan priests saw the same appearance. Subsequently, the child’s image disappeared and, instead, three hearts were seen: symbol of the Holy Trinity.

“It is wonderful for us to remember this miracle, because we always say, and how that day they have repeated those who officiated the Mass, that the Eucharist is a miracle that is repeated every day, every time we are going to commune,” Leon added.

The event also served to highlight the recognition that this prodigy takes little by little. “Following that our Pope mentioned Chiclayo, now Eten is throughout the world. They all talk about this only miracle that occurred 376 years ago,” said León.

The coordinator said that they took to the cathedral of Lima an image of the divine boy of the miracle that is owned by the faithful of Callao and that they could give the celebrants a small 15 -centimeter replica. “It has been wonderful, really wonderful,” said León.

The dispute in Eten: the beginning of the end

Jesús León thanked Ewtn News for having disseminated the irregularities that occur in a chapel in Eten – which is in the field where it is planned to build the great sanctuary dreamed by Pope León when he was a bishop of Chiclayo – as the celebration of alleged masses and sacraments by false priests.

The coordinator said that before coming to Lima he talked to the local pastor, who has celebrated a disagreement mass at the scene, which is already in conversations with the members of the so -called multisectoral committee, who allowed irregularities.

León explained that, in order to initiate the works of the sanctuary that dreamed in Eten the now Pope Leo XIV, it is necessary that there are no legal disputes and all the documentation is sanitized.

After pointing out his hope that “a good agreement will be reached” and that those who have been involved in illegal celebrations have been forgiven, Jesús León stressed that “we have in Peru the joy of having a Peruvian Pope” and that his group will continue to work to spread, even more, the Eucharistic miracle of Eten to promote “the love of the Eucharist.”

Carlo Acutis and Etena’s Eucharistic miracle

In addition, he recalled, “in Eten we have the first degree relic of Blessed Carlos Acutis,” a lock of the hair of “a 15 -year -old girl who is the cyber and the Eucharist” and will be declared holy in September.

“We are going to pray for this great intention of really that Peru is recognized as a country that really is Eucharist, and hand in hand with the divine child who accompanies us here,” said the coordinator.

The Eten Miracle of Eten is registered in the Vatican Library, the General Archive of Indies of Seville, Spain, and the Library of the Convent of San Francisco de Lima, was even recognized by Carlo Acutis, who included it in his famous catalog of Eucharistic miracles.
