Saint Paul VI also made a prayer to implore water to fall from the sky:
“God our Father, Lord of heaven and earth. You are for us; existence, energy and life. You have created human beings in your image and likeness, so that with their work, they make the riches of the earth bear fruit, thus collaborating with your creation. We are aware of our misery and weakness. We can do nothing without You.
You, Good Father, who make the Sun shine on everyone and make the rain fall, have compassion on all who suffer during the drought these days. Listen with kindness to the prayers that your Church addresses to you with confidence, as you listened to the supplications of the Prophet Elijah, who interceded on behalf of his people. Make the long-desired rain fall from the sky on the arid land, so that the fruits are reborn and human beings and animals are saved.
May the rain be for us the sign of your grace and blessing. Thus, comforted by your mercy, we thank you for every gift of earth and heaven, with which your Spirit satisfy our thirst.
