War in Ukraine: Pope Francis donates third ambulance to a hospital

Pope Francis has donated a third ambulance to a hospital in Ukraine, a concrete gesture of his closeness and concern for those suffering the devastating effects of war.

As reported today by the Dicastery for Charity, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, Almoner of Pope Francis, will be in charge of delivering the new ambulance which, as on previous occasions, has been blessed by the Holy Father.

The cardinal will travel to Ukraine for the eighth time. This time, he will go to Zboriv district, Ternopil region, to deliver the ambulance to the Central Hospital.

In addition, Cardinal Krajewski will inaugurate at the end of June the “Saint John Paul II” Rehabilitation Center, built in the Roman Catholic diocese of Kamyanets-Podilskyy, for the comprehensive physical and psychological rehabilitation of those who have suffered war trauma.

The center, like other similar ones promoted by Pope Francis, was built with the contribution of some pontifical foundations such as the Church in Need and the Papal Foundation.

According to the Vatican Dicastery, these centers are open to “everyone”, without distinction of beliefs or nationality. In these places treatment is offered not only to those who have suffered injuries in combat, but also to their loved ones, wives and children.
