On Saturday, March 15, in Lima, the capital of Peru, the Walk for Life 2025 will take place, an event that will congregate families, youth and adults in a peaceful demonstration to reaffirm the value of life from conception to natural death.
The march will leave at 3:00 pm (local time) from Larcomar, a mall located in the Miraflores district, and will culminate in Kennedy Park with an act of reflection and prayer.

In An interview with Ewtn NewsSofía Luque, founder and director of Network Young Provida Peru, expressed the importance of this mobilization: “Always defending life, because life is the most precious gift we have and it is everyone to protect it.”
The situation of abortion in Peru
In Peru, abortion is a crime, but article 119 of the Criminal Code excludes it from sanction if it is the only means to save the mother’s life or avoid serious and permanent damage to their health. Since 2014, an executive guide allows therapeutic abortion until 22 weeks.
Although abortion remains illegal, Luque criticized that he continues to be practiced clandestinely. “Thank God, our laws have been very strong in defense of life. The Peruvian people, through prayer and action, have made abortion not legalized, ”he said.
He also highlighted the importance of the country’s legal framework: “Our Constitution is clear: the human being is considered a person from the moment of conception.”
Regarding the therapeutic abortion, Luque denounced that it is used as an excuse to facilitate illegal abortions through the so -called “Kit for the attention of cases of sexual violence” approved by the Ministry of Health.
“Hospitals promote what they call the ‘rape kit’, which really opens the doors to abortion. Love is renunciation and sacrifice, it is not about looking for an easy way out of a life, ”he explained.
Alternatives to support pregnant women
Luque emphasized the need to support women in a situation of vulnerability to prevent abortion. “We have approached congressmen to propose joint work in favor of pregnant women, but unfortunately we have not achieved much contact,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of awareness in young people: “Many seek love and are wrong. But it is not about hiding the error with an abortion, but about facing it with responsibility and support. ”
