The year started with everything for automotive companies and Cariló seems to have become the new version of the Motor Show. Like every year, most brands exhibit their entire repertoire of models there and present several of their new products.
In this sense, there have already been two companies that launched new models: on the one hand, Honda presented the new Accord Hybrid; and on the other hand, Renault anticipated the arrival of the Arkana, its first hybrid model in the country.
Now the one who broke the news was Volkswagen, because the German brand presented the renovation of the Vento GLI (which is now on sale), anticipated the arrival of the updated Nivus and confirmed that this year he will sell the Teraan SUV that was born from the Gol – the great former sales champion – and that promises to be one of the cheapest on the market.
The announcements come at a good commercial time for Volkswagen, second in the 2024 ranking (behind Toyota) and the only one of the Top 5 that increased its sales flow (13.9%) compared to 2023.
The new Vento GLI
This is a new update of the sports sedan that was first launched in 2019 and was renewed in 2023 adding more technology. It arrives from Mexico and is for sale at a value of $ 59.417.600 (includes the first three subsidized services.
The aesthetic changes stand out mainly in the nose, now with new bumpers, headlights and a grille illuminated by an LED strip as in the Taos, Amarok and T-Cross models.
The rear also presents significant changes, with a trunk lid that has a built-in spoiler and another line of LEDs that connects the renewed optics.
In turn, the interior features a new 10″ floating touch screen, with several physical buttons, as well as the renewed air vents and climate control commands.
Mechanically, it maintains the powerful 2.0 TSI (turbo) gasoline engine with 230 HP and 350 Nm of torque, accompanied by the 7-speed DSG (dual clutch) automatic transmission; a set that allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and places it in a solitary position among general brands.
The renewal of Nivus
At the stand located in Divisadero (corner Cerezo) you can also see the renewed Nivus, whose commercial launch in the country is scheduled for March.
The compact crossover presents aesthetic innovations on the front (with new grille, bumpers and headlights), in the rear (optics) and debuts new design wheels.
The interior has new upholstery and adds technology, highlighting new driving assistance and a connectivity package.
Tera, one of the most anticipated models
During the presentation, company authorities announced that in the first semester The Tera will be launched, an SUV manufactured in Taubaté (Brazil) on the same MQB-A0 platform used in the Polo, Virtus, Nivus and T-Cross models.
The Tera will be the German brand’s cheapest SUV and will compete mainly against Renault Kardian, recently chosen “Car of the Year” in Argentina, and Fiat Pulse.
The brand has not yet provided much information about the model. Its design is being revealed in dribs and drabs, while mechanically it is estimated that it will have the well-known 1.0-liter turbo engine of 95 or 116 horsepower.
Tera was shown for the first time in 2024 during Rock in Rio, in Rio de Janeiro. There, it was revealed at the Mundo VW stand, with a special camouflage and surrounded by an LED glass dome.
