Vicar of Pope Francis for the Diocese of Rome invites to worship the Blessed Sacrament for his recovery

Pope Francis’s vicar for the Diocese of Rome, Cardinal Baldassare Reina, invited Catholics to wors ask for the recovery of the pontiff.

Cardinal Baldassare Reina, in charge of the management of the Diocese of Rome on behalf of the Pontiff, invited Catholics to “live an hour of silent worship” by Pope Francis who has been hospitalized for six days at the Gemelli polyclinic hospital.

His call to prayer adds to those made by other ecclesiastical leaders worldwide. “We continue with attention and confidence the health of our bishop, Pope Francis,” he said.

“Aware of how beautiful community prayer is, we ask all the parish and religious life communities for an hour of silent worship before today’s evening mass,” reads the statement published on the Diocese website.

And he adds: “As a great family, we ask the Lord to give our bishop the necessary force to face this delicate moment.”

The medical part published yesterday at 7:30 pm (local time) confirmed that Pope Francis suffers bilateral pneumonia.

After the new diagnosis, the medical team has prescribed a new antibiotic therapy to the Holy Father, the third they have prescribed since he was hospitalized on Friday.

While the convalescence can be extended, it is not known if Pope Francis would be shown in public this Sunday for the Angelus at noon. Vatican sources confirm that they are studying with which modality could be carried out, for example, from a chapel or from a hospital window.

The Holy Father received on Wednesday the visit of the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, in the hospital, with whom he was even joking, according to the statement published by the Italian government.
