The baroque concert called ‘Dear Sassone…Handel’s Italian music’ was a tribute to the German artist who was nationalized as an Englishman and who lived in Italy – the birthplace of baroque opera. ‘Dear Sassone’, scholars explain, was the affectionate nickname he received from the Italians – that is, “the dear German”. With her art, with her singing, Verónica Cangemi moves even those who don’t understand lyrics. At the end of the show, the comments upon leaving the historic CCK were even more sensitive: “It made me cry”, said a follower of the artist.
