Vatican: The date of canonization of Carlo Acutis is yet to be determined

This Monday, July 1, an Ordinary Public Consistory took place on some causes of canonization. Although the day on which Blessed Carlo Acutis will be proclaimed a saint was scheduled to be published today, the date has yet to be determined.

The Consistory for the vote on the causes of canonization is an event that brings together the Holy Father and cardinals in the Clementine room of the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican to approve the canonizations of several blesseds.

This is a formal act in which the Pontiff makes public the dates on which the next saints of the Church will be canonized.

During the Consistory, which took place at 9:00 a.m. (Rome time), Pope Francis decreed that Blessed Manuel Ruiz López and 7 companions and Blesseds Francesco, Mooti and Raffaele Massabki, Giuseppe Allamano, Marie-Léonie Paradis and Elena Guerra They will be canonized on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The Spanish Blessed Manuel Ruiz López and 7 companions were murdered out of hatred for the Faith in Damascus in 1869. For his part, Giuseppe Allamano was a founding priest of the Institutes of the Missionaries of the Consolata and of the Missionary Sisters of the Consolata.

Marie-Léonie Paradis is the founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family and Elena Guerra founded the Congregation of the Oblates of the Holy Spirit.

However, although all eyes were on the future of San Carlo Acutis, the Italian teenager who died at the age of 15 and was beatified in 2020 in Assisi, the Vatican has reported that the date of his canonization has yet to be determined. His canonization will probably take place during the Jubilee of 2025.

During the Consistory this Monday, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, read a summary about the life and miracles approved through the intercession of the blessed.

Next, after the agreement of the cardinals representing the Catholic Church, Pope Francis confirmed that the canonization of the blessed presented can proceed and finally indicated the dates on which they will be proclaimed saints.

Anselmo all’Aventino and Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, with the diakonia of S. Agnese in Agone.
