In statements to the Vatican media, Fr. Dante Carraro, director of Doctors with Africa CUAMM, points out that the death of the “tireless missionary” has been “a blow to the heart, really a very deep, unbearable pain. Father Matteo Pettinari was truly a friend, he is a man of God. He spent his entire life with the poorest.”
“I remember when he said: ‘there are a thousand problems, but there are a thousand and one solutions.’ We must believe that difficulties cannot stop us and that building and improving certain situations is stronger than destruction and what does not work,” she adds.
After noting that he will now do good “in paradise,” the priest said that Father Pettinari now receives the embrace of “the good Father, as he embraced so many poor people that he met every day in his work.”
