Vatican: Pope Francis’s clinical conditions remain stable

Pope Francis’s clinical conditions have remained stable in recent hours, the Vatican said on Thursday, March 6.

In the most recent update on its state of health, the press office of the Holy See confirmed that the Pontiff, admitted to the Gemelli Hospital for 21 days, has preserved stability for the third consecutive day after the two acute respiratory crises he suffered on Monday afternoon.

As part of this favorable evolution, the Vatican said that the Pontiff has not presented new episodes of respiratory failure and continues with its respiratory and motor therapy.

This afternoon’s medical bulletin said that his hemodynamic parameters and blood tests remain stable and that he has not registered a fever. However, the Vatican spokesman, Matteo Bruni, warned that doctors maintain the reserved prognosis.

This Thursday, Pope Francis dedicated himself to some work activities during the morning and, in the afternoon, as in previous days, alternated the rest with the prayer. Before lunch, he received the Eucharist.

Yesterday Wednesday the Holy Father showed a Notable improvement: He received the ash, passed part of the day sitting in an armchair and called by phone to Fr. Gabriel Romanelli, pastor of the Sagrada Familia de Gaza.

The Vatican has not specified whether Pope Francis will receive non -invasive mechanical breathing support again, as happened on the previous two nights. Given the stability status, the next medical part will be broadcast on Saturday.
