In his message, the Holy Father thanked those who are willing to give “public testimony in defense of human life from conception to natural death” and encouraged them to “continue courageously despite all adversity.”

“What is at stake, that is, the absolute dignity of human life, a gift from God the Creator, is too high to be the object of concessions or mediation,” Pope Francis stressed.

The National March for Life 2024 in Italy

The march departs at 2:00 p.m. (local time) from the Plaza de la República to reach the Imperial Forums along the Via Cavour, at the Altar of the Fatherland.

On the stages set up at the beginning and end of the march, there will be testimonies from families who have embraced life in the midst of difficulties; and the event’s spokespersons, Massimo Gandolfini and Maria Rachele Ruiu, will give their respective speeches.

“This event wants to be a clear contrast to the culture of death as Saint John Paul II called it and the throwaway culture as Pope Francis calls it, and at the same time it wants to be a strong promotion of the beauty of being open to life, so it will be a festive procession,” says Gandolfini, who works as a neurosurgeon in Brescia.

The spokesperson also referred to the recent document of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Infinite dignityand highlighted that “the dignity of life is infinite and does not need any other attribution, because every living being, from conception to natural death, is a bearer of human dignity and as such must be recognized and respected.”
