Pope Francis also encouraged us to continue praying “for the populations martyred by the war in Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, in Sudan, and we do not forget Syria, a country that has been suffering so much from war for a long time.”
The war in Ukraine, which began with the invasion of Russian troops on February 24, 2022, has been going on for more than two years and has left millions of displaced people and thousands of victims in its wake; while the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which has left tens of thousands of dead in the Holy Land, has not ceased since last October 7.
The war in Sudan has been going on for 11 months and, according to various media, some 25 million people now face acute shortages of medicine and food.
