It is worth remembering that at the beginning of last December the Holy Father appeared in public with a bruise on his face.

On that occasion, the director of the Press Office, Matteo Bruni, explained that the injury occurred after hitting his chin on the nightstand.

The recent accident has not altered the Holy Father’s busy agenda scheduled for this Thursday. Early in the morning, he met with Bishop Alberto Torriani, Archbishop-elect of Crotone-Santa Severina (Italy).

He subsequently received Nosipho Nausca-Jean Jezile, President of the Committee on World Food Security and Álvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development.

He has also held an audience with Edmond Brahimaj, Leader of the Bektashi Community of Tirana, and with the priests of the Argentine Priestly College in Rome.

In the photographs released by the Vatican, the Holy Father can be seen with his right arm supported by a sling, which has forced him to greet the personalities with his left arm.
