The Pontiff then highlighted the place of the eyes of the artisans, with which they have “an original look at reality. (The craftsman) has the ability to recognize a masterpiece in inert matter before making it” and thus “intuits the destiny of beauty that the matter can have, which brings him closer to the Creator.”
Regarding the place of the artisans’ feet, the Holy Father recalled that it serves to walk “the path of work, of the development of fantasy, to improve environments, living conditions, relationships. That’s why I like to think of you as artisans of brotherhood,” like the Good Samaritan of the Gospel, in which this man helps another who has been assaulted and beaten.
In that sense, Pope Francis continued, “we can become companions on the journey, in the midst of the culture of indifference. Every time we take a step closer to our brother, we become artisans of a new humanity.”
