Father Wiston Mosquera Moreno is the new Bishop of Quibdó. He succeeds Bishop Juan Carlos Barreto, who was appointed in 2022 as Bishop of Soacha.
He was born on May 17, 1967 in Andoya, in the diocese of Istmina-Tadó. He is 57 years old.
As reported by the Episcopal Conference of Colombia (CEC), studied Philosophy and Theology at the San Pedro Apóstol Major Seminary in Cali, in addition to the Pontifical Bolivarian University and the Lumen Gentium Catholic University. He was ordained a priest on March 19, 2005.
He has held, among others, the following positions: parish vicar of Nuestra Señora del Rosario in Jamundi – Valle (2005), parish priest at Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro in Robles – Valle (2006- 2011), parish priest of the Lord of Miracles (2011 -2012), rector of the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy in Cali (2012-2017), general vicar of Cali since 2017 and parish priest at the San Pedro Apóstol Cathedral in Cali since 2018.
Who is William Pietro Daza?
Father William Pietro Daza is the new Bishop of San Vicente del Caguán. He succeeds Bishop Francisco Javier Múnera Correa, appointed Archbishop of Cartagena in 2021, and recently elected president of the CEC.
He was born in Bogotá on December 26, 1974. At 49 years old, he is the second youngest bishop in Colombia, the first being Mons. Juan Fernando Franco Sánchez, Bishop of Caldas.
He graduated as a surgeon from the Javeriana University in 1997, specializing in anesthesiology in 2001.
He studied Philosophy at the Servants of the Holy Spirit Seminary of La Ceja (Antioquia) and Theology at the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Seminary of the Archdiocese of Villavicencio.
He was ordained a priest on March 21, 2013.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Institute of Psychology of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome in 2017.
He has been Parish Vicar in the Parish of La Inmaculada Concepción, in Restrepo, Meta (2013); parochial vicar in María Madre de la Iglesia de Villavicencio (2017); vicar general and parish priest in María Madre de la Iglesia de Villavicencio (2018-2023); and parish priest at Nuestra Señora del Carmen, in Restrepo, Meta since 2023.
