Pope Francis named the Indian Archbishop, Mons. Kurian Mathew Vayalunkal, new apostolic nuncio (ambassador) in Chile. The prelate served so far as Nuncio in Algeria and Tunisia.

He website From Chilean episcopate indicates that Mons. Kurian Mathew Vayalunkal was born in Vadavathor (India), on August 4, 1966. He is 58 years old.
He was ordained a priest on December 26, 1991 at age 25.
On June 13, 1998, he entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See and worked on the pontifical representations of Guinea, Korea, Dominican Republic, Bangladesh, Hungary and Egypt. He is a Doctor of Canon Law.
On May 3, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Papua New Guinea. In September of the same year he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in the Solomon Islands.
In January 2021 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Algeria; and in February of the same year he assumed the Apostolic Nunciature in Tunisia.
He Archbishop knows The Hindi, the Tamil and the Malayalam (languages that are spoken in India), in addition to Spanish, English, Italian, French and German.
