Vatican: Papa Leo XIV updated his data for his new electronic DNI of Peru

Pope Leo XIV updated his personal data for his new National Identity Document (DNI) of Peru on Friday, according to the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC).

According to an agency’s note AndinaOfficial Medium of the Peruvian State, Pope León received four registrars of the RENIEC this morning, in a meeting that was not on the list of audiences released by the Holy See Press Office.

In the previous ID, Robert Prevost Martínez, the current Pope Leo XIV, appeared with a direction of Chiclayo, city of northern Peru where he was bishop. The new DNI will have the new direction of the Vatican and an updated photograph of the Holy Father, taken today by the registrars.

With this update, Pope Leo XIV will have the so -called Electronic DNI 3.0 that the Government of Peru launched on April 15, 2025 and has a cost of 41 soles, just over 10 dollars.

“The Electronic DNI 3.0 now has 64 safety elements both on the 100% heat -resistant polycarbonate card and ultraviolet rays, as well as in the cryptographic chip. That is, four times more than 2.0,” the website of the Peruvian State.

The electronic ID will allow digital vote in the next elections; And it also serves to access Distance Digital Services and also for Commerce on line.
