The Vatican authority responded in this way when asked about the release and deportation to Rome, on January 14, of 2 bishops, 15 priests and 2 seminarians from Nicaragua, among whom was Mons. Rolando Álvarez, who was unjustly imprisoned for 500 days.
“It is clear that negotiating anything, such as the departure of these priests and bishops from Nicaragua, has not been easy,” said Bishop Gallagher at a press conference. held on January 18 in the Vatican, on the occasion of the celebrations for the 200 years since the death of the Italian Cardinal Ercole Consalvisymbol of the diplomacy of the Holy See.
