The controversial performance of a young man who considers himself a “transformist” and the assumption that girls can also be “Popes” by the Italian actor Roberto Benigni, are the controversial events that occurred during the first World Children’s Day, organized by the Vatican.
The first World Children’s Day, an initiative promoted by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Culture and Education and attended by Pope Francis, took place last weekend in Rome.

Thousands of children from 77 countries around the world participated in this great event, which opened on Saturday, May 25 at the Olympic Stadium in Rome and closed the next day with a Mass presided over by the Holy Father in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican.
During the opening of the event at the Rome stadium, before the arrival of Pope Francis, the Italian Carmine De Rosa, who presents himself on his social networks as a “transformist”, starred in a show dressed and made up as a womanin the presence of numerous children and several adults.
The “transformist”, who changed his clothes on several occasions during his exhibition, used provocative costumes and acted in an effeminate manner, a behavior that has been questioned by several through social networks.
Some criticized that “to make art” it is not necessary to make sense of homosexuality, while other users regretted that the parents present during the “show” did not prevent it from continuing. There were also those who assured that “this has nothing to do with the Catholic Church.”
De Rosa, who usually appears with red lipstick in most of his videos published on social networks, stated on his TikTok profile that he had been officially summoned to perform “because of the type of show I do on stage and for professionalism.”
A “Woman Pope”?
For its part, during the closing ceremony that took place on Sunday in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, the words of the well-known Italian actor and comedian Roberto Benigni, in the presence of forty thousand children and Pope Francis, have also caused some indignation.
During his speech, Benigni addressed the children to assure them that “in the Kingdom of God everything is possible” and that perhaps among them there could be “a new Michelangelo, or a new Galileo.”
Later, he spoke especially to the girls, to tell them that it was also possible that one of them would become “the first female Pope in history.” “My God, they would talk about that to the moon, it would be extraordinary!” exclaimed the actor.
ACI Prensa consulted Father Enzo Fortunato, appointed coordinator of the event by Pope Francis, about these events. Until the publication of this news, no response has been received.
