The Association for Reconciliation and Historical Truth has gathered more than 120,000 requests for the Community of Madrid to protect the Valley of the Fallen as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) against the socialist Government’s plans to desacralize the place and re-signify it from the historical point of view.
In the petition, hosted on the HazteOir.org portalthe promoters of the campaign argue that “the social-communist Government has put the machinery in motion to destroy the Valley of the Fallen and transform it into a “museum” of horrors in which to rewrite history with falsehoods, blaming one side. of all evils and hiding the crimes of others.”
Two years ago, the Community of Madrid, chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, of the Popular Party, refused to declare the place as a BIC, citing the fact that the regional Heritage Law prevented it. “After updating the Heritage Law and running out of excuses, he still does not keep his word,” the association reproaches.
