In June, month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Catholic Church in Uruguay celebrates the vocational month. Within that framework, the bishop of Mercedes, Mons. Luis Eduardo González, encouraged to pray so that young people can respond generously to the vocational call of the Sacred Heart.
In a VIDEOMANSAJE Aimed at the faithful of the Diocese, the prelate recalled that June is the vocational month, which this year has the peculiarity of framing in a holy year “where we walk together as pilgrims of hope,” he said.

Therefore, in the name of the Department of Vocations and Ministries of the Episcopal Conference of Uruguay (CEU), he called all the dioceses to join in prayer for vocations.
The initiative carries the slogan “of the Sacred Heart of Jesus springs the vocational call”, and summons all “to pray, to reflect and listen to the testimonies of the different vocations that the Lord gives us in his church.”
The message wants to reach the youth of the youth pastoral, of the different movements and youth groups “so that they can experience in the Church the love of the Sacred Heart, and respond generously to their call.”
“In a new Pentecost we hope that the Holy Spirit will help us in this task and we say: ‘Sacred Heart of Jesus in you we trust!’” Mons. González concluded.
Consecration to the Sacred Heart
This prayer initiative for vocations, so linked to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, coincides with a very special event that will take place during this month in the different dioceses of Uruguay: the Renewal of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesusperformed 150 years ago by Blessed Jacinto Vera.
In the sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Cerrito de la Victoria, the consecration will be this Thursday, June 12, within the framework of the Jubilee of the Priests.
The Archdiocese of Montevideo, meanwhile, will be consecrated on Sunday, June 22, at the end of the Solemn Procession of Corpus Christi.
The Archbishop of Montevideo and Primado del Uruguay, Cardinal Daniel Sturla, summoned all parishes, educational centers, movements and families, to consecrate in the week of the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which this year is celebrated on Friday, June 27.
