The Catholic Church in Uruguay announced Friday the death of Mons. Dr. A.S. Antonio Bonzani, 79, a priest and theologian of renowned track record, who served as Rector of the Faculty of Theology of Uruguay for two terms.
In recent years, he held the position of parish priest at Nuestra Señora de Lourdes in the Malvín neighborhood, in Montevideo.
The Archbishop of Montevideo, Cardinal Daniel Sturla, shared a photo of the priest in his count of (formerly Twitter) with the following caption: “Fr. Antonio Bonzani with his theology notes. This morning he left us suddenly after having spread smiles and wisdom with patience and generosity. We thank God for his priestly and missionary service to the service of the Church in Uruguay.”
