After a year with little news, General Motors threw the house out of the window and presented five new vehicles which represent a total renewal of its range for the local market.
This is the launch of the updated Chevrolet S10, Spin y Trailblazerthe start of pre-sales of the long-awaited full-size pickup Silverado and the advance payment Blazer EVthe first 100% electric vehicle that the brand will market in Argentina.
General Motors defined this multiple presentation as the “beginning of a new stage for the brand in the country.” Chevrolet occupies seventh place in the ranking of patents (20,021 units), with the Tracker SUV as its best-selling model (leader in its segment and 11th in the general ranking).
During the event held in La Rural, Raúl Mier, GM’s commercial director in South America, recognized the problems that the brand has been going through recently, although he was in charge of chase away rumors about the company’s departure from the country.
“We had dense conversations with dealers, we postponed several launches and all of this generated several rumors. Today we thank them for their loyalty and invite them to share this new challenge,” he said.
Chevrolet Spin
The renewed minivan is now available in two versions: five-seat LT ($ 26.826.900) y Prime ($ 32.553.900), which has capacity for seven passengers and is fully equipped.
Aesthetically, the model presents the overall Chevrolet design. On the outside, the main changes are in the trunk; now with a higher hood, new headlight group and full LED daytime running lights in all versions, in addition to the larger grill and bumper.
For its part, the interior shows improved quality and finish. It includes new elements such as USB chargers in the front and rear seats, a second rubber-covered glove box and a wireless charger for cell phones.
The biggest change is in the front panel, highlighting the panel composed of an 8-inch screen for the instrument panel and another 11-inch screen for the new generation Chevrolet MyLink multimedia system.
The mechanics also receive some improvements. Maintains the engine 1.8 liters of 106 HPbut with a new electronic management module (the same one used by Tracker), which according to the brand offers more intelligent control in accelerations and recoveries, and is up to 11% more economical than its predecessor.
The entire range comes standard with six airbags, emergency braking assistance, stability control, rear view camera and hooks for child seats. While the Premier version adds driving assistance systems.
Chevrolet S10
The versions that are available starting this month are the High Country ($ 62.074.900), LTZ ($ 58.548.900) y WorkTruck 4×2 MT ($ 36.949.900) while the WorkTruck 4×4 manual and 4×4 automatic variants will soon be added.
All have the renewed turbodiesel engine 2.8 liters of 207 hp which is combined with a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The mechanical cover letter is completed with recalibrated suspensions, new shock absorbers and telescopic steering column, and 16 and 18-inch tires and wheels depending on the version.
In terms of design, its front is characterized, which includes a new hood, fenders, headlights, grille and bumper. While inside it presents a digitized concept where a single piece stands out that includes two screens: one for the instrument panel and another for the multimedia system.
Chevrolet Silverado
After being exhibited at several events during 2023 and 2024, the brand finally announced the pre-sale of its best selling model in the world. The full-size pickup has two versions: the sporty Z71 Trailboss ($ 91.883.900) and the distinguished High Country ($ 103.384.900).
They both carry the powerful 5.3-liter V8 with 360 hp capable of activating and deactivating several cylinders depending on driving conditions. This engine is from the same family as the Camaro supercar, but with improvements to respond to the particularities of large pickup truck users. It is paired with a modern 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Silverado Z71 Trail Boss It stands out for an exclusive Off Road sports suspension system to provide more stability, comfort and gives it 5 centimeters more height.
The black front grille, added to the rearview mirrors in the same tone, the LED projection headlights and DRL daytime running lights give it a sporty look that is magnified with its 20” black wheels and colored tow hooks. red.
For its part, the High Country variant has a full LED intelligent lighting system, chrome grille and moldings, and electrically operated running boards and tailgate. The wheels are also 20 inches but with a machined surface and high-profile All Terrain tires for better shock absorption.
Chevrolet Trailblazer
The SUV derived from the S10 has the same changes and mechanical configuration as the pickup and will begin marketing during the first quarter of 2025 (prices will be informed at the time of launch).
The Premier version now adopts the High Country name, which until now was used in the region only for the S10 and Silverado pickups.
The front is the same as the renewed S10 while the rear sector remains almost unchanged, except for a small update to the optics. The interior adopts the digital dashboard, the new 11″ touchscreen and the new commands of the S10, while retaining the classic configuration of three rows of seats.
The engine is the well-known 2.8 that raised its power and torque to 207 HP and 510 Nm. The new eight-speed automatic transmission debuts and will continue to be offered only with all-wheel drive.
Chevrolet Blazer EV
Its debut in our market is scheduled for 2025, although still without a launch date or range configuration. What can be said is that it will be GM’s first electric model in the country.
The Blazer EV had been announced in 2022 as part of the brand’s new electric advance. Its marketing in the United States began a year later, although its arrival in the region was already rumored from the first moment.
The only reference can be taken from the Brazilian market, where it is offered in its RS version (the Equinox EV and two variants of the Bolt EV are also sold there), which delivers a power of 347 HP (rear-wheel drive) and is equipped with a battery of 102 kWh that offers an autonomy of 481 kilometers.
