After a break of almost a month, Formula 1 returns to the ring to face the second part of the 2024 season. With Max Verstappen as the absolute leader and in search of his fourth consecutive title, the competition is going through a moment of great parity compared to recent years: McLaren and Mercedes arrive with the latest triumphs on their shoulders, while Ferrari remains expectant thanks to its regularity.
The last race took place in Belgium, where George Russell crossed the finish line and took 1-2 alongside Hamilton for Mercedes. However, the British driver was disqualified when it was discovered that his car was underweight after the race.
In a report published by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the body explained: “The car was not completely emptied in accordance with the emptying procedure presented by the team in its legality documents, as article 6.5 is complied with. 2 of the technical regulations”.
In this way, Hamilton inherited the victory in Belgium, while the podium was completed by the Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
Hamilton’s victory in the last race did not translate into major changes in the drivers’ standings: Verstappen remains the sole leader with 277 points, and is followed by Lando Norris (199), Chales Leclerc (177) and Carlos Sainz (167). A little further away is Piastri (162), while the seven-time F1 champion continues to add victories and points and reached 150 points.
However, the fight in the constructors’ table is going through one of the moments of greatest parity in recent months: the irregularity of Red Bull (408) and the good results that McLaren (366) and Ferrari (345) have been achieving allowed them to shorten distance and leave the fight open for the last stretch of the season.
One of the latest features in the Netherlands?
This weekend Formula 1 returns to the Netherlands after almost a year. However, it could mean one of the last roles in Zandvoort. This is because the circuit director, Robert van Overdijk, does not guarantee the continuity of the GP after the 2025 calendar.
The contract that links F1 with the Netherlands expires in 2026 and must negotiate its continuity like China, Emilia Romagna, Monaco, Belgium, Italy and Mexico. However, the circuit director confirmed that the lack of financial support could put its continuity at risk.
“At the moment, the risks are too great, but obviously, we are doing everything we can to see if a race after 2025 is still possible. “It is clear that the situation is difficult: the relationship with Formula 1 is fantastic, but I hope that everyone in the Netherlands realizes that organizing an event of this caliber is not a gift,” he said in an interview with Viaplay.
Dutch GP: race times

The Formula 1 season can be followed through the category’s own platform (F1 TV Pro), with the contracting of the package of all competitions, in addition to training and qualifying tests. Likewise, in Argentina it will also be available live via streaming on the Disney+ platform.
