Today the Church celebrates Saint Onesimus the martyr, whom Saint Paul freed from slavery |
|
Every February 16 the universal Church remembers Saint Onesimus, bishop of Ephesus and martyr. The exact date of his birth is unknown, but it is known that he was a native of Colossae (today Turkey). He suffered the condition of a slave for many years until he became a fugitive after stealing from his master, Philemon, a friend of the apostle Saint Paul. |
