Tips to live Advent with love and solidarity

“If you’re donating toys and clothes before Christmas, don’t send what you don’t need,” says Armstrong. “Give things you still like.”

15. Give “Christmas in a box”

Save a little money and, taking advantage of the sales after Christmas, buy a tree, a wreath and Christmas decorations, “to give ‘Christmas in a box’ to a refugee or another family next year.”

16. Help the poor

“The more you give, the better you feel,” comments the author. Agree with friends or family, and reduce Christmas expenses to give that money to those who need it most. You can support local initiatives in your city.

17. Ask the Holy Family

Armstrong proposes the following prayer to be able to entrust ourselves to the Holy Family:

“Dear Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph, pray that we may grow in holiness this Advent. “Jesus, bring us closer to You as we prepare to celebrate the day of your birth.”
