“From that moment on, the Episcopal Commission for Liturgical Pastoral has received various consultations on the use of the Pope’s name in the Eucharistic Prayer,” he said.
The Episcopal Commission raised the consultation to the Dicasterio for the divine cult and discipline of the Vatican’s sacraments, which replied: “In the Eucharistic prayer our Pope Leon will be said. Without saying the numeral”.
The Mexican episcopal organ explained that “the given foundation comes from the historical study of the liturgical texts used in the Roman liturgy with what can be affirmed as tradition that the name of the Pontiff is mentioned as a tradition without the numeral, as In the liturgical context in which there is mention there is no other pontiff with the name of León more than the Holy Father Leo XIV ”.
“We appreciate to extend this information to the presbyters of their respective dioceses in order to clarify this doubt,” concludes the statement.
