Pope Francis’ prayer intention for this month of April 2024 is “for the role of women” and, specifically, that “the dignity and wealth of women be recognized in all cultures, and that the discrimination they suffer in various parts of the world.”
Throughout his pontificate, Pope Francis has had words of praise for women inside and outside the Catholic Church. For example, in March 2022, the Pontiff assured that “The current sensitivity of the world demands that the dignity and intrinsic value with which she has been endowed by the Creator be returned to women.”
More recently, last November, he highlighted that the Church “is a woman” and a “wife.” In this regard, she stressed that “if we do not understand what a woman is, what a woman’s theology is, we will never understand what the Church is.”
