Below a prayer written by this patient bishopwho according to the catechesis area of the French Episcopal Conference, managed to convince his compatriots and royal people with his calm and gentleness.
Oh Lord, with your help I want to practice gentleness
in daily encounters and hassles.
As soon as I notice that anger flares up inside me,
I will gather my strength,
not violently, but gently,
and I will seek to restore Peace in my heart.
Knowing that I can do nothing alone,
I will take care of asking you for help,
as the Apostles did when they were tossed by the raging sea.
Teach me to be kind to everyone,
even with those who offend me or oppose me,
and also with myself,
without burdening myself with my faults.
When I fall, despite my efforts,
I will rise gently and say:
“Come, my poor heart,
Let’s get up and leave this hole forever.
Let us turn to the Mercy of God, She will help us.”
