For the OLRC, a new rule on religious freedom drawn up by the social-communist Executive chaired by Pedro Sánchez would mean “a greater limitation of this fundamental right.”
Another consequence derived from the creation of the General Directorate of Religious Freedom could be, in María García’s opinion, an increase in the budget allocated to the Pluralism and Coexistence Foundation, created in 2004 by the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, of the PSOE.
“With a budget increase, the foundation will be able to continue discriminating against Catholics, but with even more means,” denounces García, who refers to the fact that this organization was created “for the benefit of non-Catholic religious confessions with a cooperation agreement with the State.” Spanish or who have obtained the corresponding declaration of notorious roots”, as detailed in its statutes.
