The promoter of the public prayer of the Rosary in the vicinity of the national headquarters of the ruling Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), José Andrés Calderón, has filed an appeal for protection before the Constitutional Court (TC) for violation of religious freedom and the right of meeting.
Calderón thus responds to the ban promoted by the Government Delegation in Madrid of the calls for this practice of piety on November 28, 29 and 30, and the ratification of the decision by the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid. He also faces an appeal for supplementation and subsequent correction, the rejection of which was communicated on January 9.
As detailed in the legal text, to which ACI Prensa has had access, the prohibition of prayer was carried out due to “insufficient justification of the urgency” in the communication that was made to the Government Delegation.
