They remember Pope Francis in the Mexico City Metro

A message from Pope Francis in which he affirms that “life is a trip” has been again projected for the thousands of users who pass daily through the collective transport system (STC) Metro, in various stations in Mexico City.

The recording was originally disseminated in November 2023 through the screens of the advertising company Isatvpresent in 70 transport system stations. Now, after his recent death, the message has been resumed as a tribute.

The subway is the main means of transport in Mexico City. OK With official figuresduring 2024 it was used for around one thousand one hundred million people throughout its 12 lines and 195 stations. It is also maintained as one of the most accessible in the world, with a cost of 5 Mexican pesos per trip, equivalent to about 0.25 US dollars.

In the video, Pope Francis recognized that transport conditions can be “sometimes boring and sometimes uncomfortable due to agglomeration”, but stressed that “this piece of travel by subway is an image of each one’s trip for their own life.”

“Life is a trip, a trip that gives fruit. I wish you that your life is a good business, that pays good fruits, fruits of love, peace, serenity, family fruits,” he said.

Pope Francis added that the family must be taken: “take care of the boys and take care of the old ones, because the old ones are memory.”

The message concludes wishing users “a good trip” and takes the opportunity to ask for what I commonly requested in life wherever I was going: “Rehend for me. God bless you.”

Before being Pope Francis, the then archbishop of Buenos Aires (Argentina), Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, was known for his humility and simplicity, which was manifested, among other details, in preferring the use of public transport.

A gesture that has been viralized after his death – as happened at the time of his choice – is a photograph sitting in a subway car, as the Metro system of Buenos Aires is known.
