The Archbishop of Quito, Mons. Alfredo Espinoza, recalled that a year ago the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress was held in the capital of Ecuador, and said that Jesús Eucharist agrees to build fraternity in a violent and fragmented world.
This was indicated by the prelate in a letter entitled “The bread of fraternity: commitment from the Eucharist“, In which she reflected on the importance of this event under the slogan” Fraternity to heal the world “, from September 8 to 15, 2024.

“From the ‘half of the world’, a message of fraternity from the Eucharist was launched. It is that Jesus Eucharist committed us all to be fraternity builders in a violent, unfair and fragmented world,” said the Ecuadorian prelate.
“We returned our gaze to the poorest and most discarded from society, because, ‘fraternity without the latter, it is not fraternity,” he added.
Mons. Espinoza thanked all the participants and those who made this great ecclesial and world event possible, such as the Corrado Maggioni and P. Vitore Boccardi priests, of the Pontifical Committee for the International Eucharistic Congresses.
The Archbishop also stressed that the following International Eucharistic Congress will be held in Sidney (Australia) in 2028, although the exact date has not yet been specified.
The bread of the fraternity
The Archbishop stressed that when the Congress of 2024 concluded, this project was launched to launch 100 parish dining rooms in the next four years, of which 30 have already been equipped that will provide attention to some 3,000 people in need.
“May the fraternity be a true commitment to all of us. Let us be those ‘Eucharistic Missionaries’ and at the same time,’ Missionaries of Fraternity,” he concluded.
